Top 8 Mesothelioma Foundations in NZ and Overseas

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer affecting the mesothelium tissue lining the lungs, stomach, heart, and other organs. The majority of people with this form of cancer were exposed to airborne asbestos particles at some stage in their lives, which the human body cannot break down or expel.

As a result, the particles can remain in the body, where they can cause scarring and damage to sensitive tissues. Sometimes, these particles can also lead to cancer and other asbestos-related illnesses.

While we have put many steps in place to prevent asbestos exposure events, we are still dealing with the aftermath of widespread asbestos use before the year 2000.

If you have received a mesothelioma diagnosis and want to arm yourself with as much information as possible, here are some of the best mesothelioma foundations in New Zealand and overseas.

Cancer Society of New Zealand

New Zealand doesn’t have a designated mesothelioma foundation, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to access the support you need. The Cancer Society is dedicated to supporting people with all cancer types throughout New Zealand.

You can rely on them for support services, driving services, and even accommodation. You and your whanau are well taken care of when you rely on the Cancer Society of New Zealand for help.
